Chris Percival – ‘Ode to StevieRay’
Chris Percival plays ‘Ode to StevieRay’ from his release Sonorific (2007) @ McDaids, Midleton, Co. Cork, Ireland.
About…
Chris is a guitarist, singer/songwriter from the north of England, now based in Cork. His accomplished solo acoustic playing fuses elements of blues, folk, country, rock, african soukous and classical styles in a wide range of traditional and alternative tunings, with the emphasis placed firmly on melody and a sweet tonality.
His own band material explores the possibilities for rich keyboard and bass accompaniments overlaid on powerful drums. Chris is also a member of african fusion band Sumu who have rightly carved themselves a considerable reputation on Ireland’s world music circuit, and acoustic duo gigs with Sumu band-mate Niwel Tsumbu are spectacular events to watch out for.
Chris’ latest release ‘Sonorific’ is an all acoustic album which nicely showcases his catchy compositions and the full breadth of his playing – from the lively Ode to Stevie Ray, through the delicacy of the Westminster Chimes in Country & Westminster, to his ferocious re-creation of thunder & lightning in The Storm.
